C- 2010 -089 NHN Mine
PAR No. 2B
20- Oct -2011
lands shall be restored to conditions that are capable of supporting the uses which they were
capable of supporting before any mining ". The Division believes the deeper, more
productive Progresso soils should be managed separately during topsoil salvage and
replacement to ensure that the reclaimed lands, regardless of land use (irrigated or not)
throughout the liability period, will be restored to conditions capable of supporting the
productive irrigated pasture that existed before mining. Please address how the topsoil
salvage and replacement will restore the reclaimed lands to the same productive irrigated
pasture conditions as those that existed before mining.
17. Topsoil storage is described beginning on page 15 of Section 2.05.4(2)(d) of the application.
Please expand the narrative to describe the volume and type (assuming that two -lift salvage
and replacement of the Progresso soils is implemented) of any stockpiles that will be
constructed, and give the side slope configuration (H:V) proposed to achieve stability.
Please also provide a reference to the map on which the stockpile locations are shown.
2.05.5 — Postmining Land Uses
4. Proposed postmining land use for the NHN permit area is shown on Map 2.05.5 -1. The
topographic base layer appears to be that which exists in the pre - mining condition. Please
replace this information with the proposed post- mining contours, as shown on Map 2.05.4 -1.
This concludes Preliminary Adequacy Review No. 2B.
