The final fencing patterns wIll approximate premining patterns
or current property owner boundazies a[ the time in order to restore the premining pasture
units. Approximate locations are shown on Exhibit 22-1. Ponds 005 and 006, as well as
permanent road locations are also shown on this exhibit. Permanent facilities such as ponds
and roads aze discussed in Tab 13.
Management of wildlife will be nonintensive with free use of the azeas for big game and other
species. Observations of wildlife use on reclaimed lands will be made; however, intensive
management of wildlife will be the responsibility of the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
Peabody Coal Company will cooperate with the Division when and where possible and will
continue its policy of restricted or prohibited hunting and non-hazassment of wildlife on the
mine property.
As requited by Rule 2.05.5(1)(b), Peabody has requested comments on the postmining land use
from the legal or equitable owners of record of the surface of the permit azea and the state and
• local government agencies which would have to initiate, implement, approve, or authorize the
proposed use of the Land following reclamation. Copies of the returned comments aze
provided in Appendix 22-1.
Revegetation
The following sections detail seedbed prepazation, seed mixes, plant lists, and seeding and
planting methods. Measures to enhance natural regeneration of native species or establish
native species from seed and seedlings, have been emphasized Implementation of these
revegetation plan components, in association with other reclamation procedures such as
backfilling and grading and topsoil management, will ensure a rapid return of surface stability,
accelerate natural succession and plant coaununity development, and achieve postmine land use
goals.
Seedbed Pre azation. Seedbed prepazation measures will generally not be practiced on
reclaimed areas. Direct hauling of topsoil is the preferred method of topsoil replacement. In
• addition, invading native species will be present on reclaimed areas topsoiled from stockpiles.
Seedbed preparation such as disking on the contour will destroy germinating or established
desireable native plant species in these topsolled areas.
