• The prevailing winds of the plains are from the north or northwest in winter and from <br />the south or southeast in summer. High velocities often occur because of the <br />comparatively level and treeless chazacter of the country. Winds of hurricane force <br />(75+ m.p.h.) have been recorded in the areas at least once a year. No detailed wind <br />direction and velocity information from government sources is available for the <br />Keenesburg area. <br />A. U.S. Bureau Rain Gauge was placed on some reclamation study test plots on the <br />mine site. The data collected is shown on Table II-18. The data starts with <br />information from May through August 1978. It also includes the amount of irrigation <br />used on the test plots.' <br />Table IV-6, Keenesburg Hi-Vol Sampler for Suspended Particulates, shows <br />atmospheric particulate information collected at the site during the period May 24, <br />1978, to February 16, 1979. The one hour average of suspended particulates was 55 <br />uglm3. <br />Table IV-7, shows the estimated, approximate average air pollutant emissions from <br />diesel oil and gasoline fueled equipment at the mine site. <br />• <br />• zy W.A.
