OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M -1980 -019
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: DB2
INSPECTION DATE: 21 September 2011
This was a routine monitoring inspection conducted by David Bird of DRMS. Doug Keith of Park County Road
and Bridge also attended the inspection.
The site is located in Park County approximately 18 miles east - northeast of Fairplay alongside CR 77. Sand and
Gravel are the commodities of interest at this mine. The total permit area is listed in the DRMS database as
7.8 acres, and the post- mining land use is designated as rangeland. No financial warranty is held as the
operator is a government entity.
There was no mining or excavation activity occurring at the time of the inspection and no obvious evidence of
recent activity. The site is being used a temporary staging and laydown area for the Federal road paving
operation on CR 77.
No problems were observed. Weeds are under control, there is no off-site damage, and there are no issues
with respect to hydrologic balance.
The west highwall of the pit is very close to the permit boundary, and the operator should be cognizant of this
to avoid mining or any related activity beyond the permit boundary.
