become necessary in the area of the new bathhouse facility. Water and sewer lines from the trailers were capped and
covered.
In 1995, another temporary office trailer with dimensions of 24 x 66 x 12 feet was leveled and blocked south of the
•
administration building. There were no water and sewer hook -ups, and a 40 -foot long buried conduit brought in
power from an existing transformer. The location is delineated on Map 24. Bonding calculations addressing the
temporary office trailer are presented on page 2.05- 54(f)58.
In 2003, under MR01 -173, a ten -foot expansion to the south was constructed for the bathhouse area only, providing
an additional 1,000 square feet of locker room for the workforce. The extension design and structure matched the
existing building. The extension required construction of piers, footings and walls and a concrete slab. The
extension itself is constructed with wood framing, insulation, and metal exterior sheathing and roof.
2005 Bathhouse Addition (MR05 -195)
An expansion to meet future coal production requirements for the mine will require approximately 100 new
employees. As a result, an addition to the existing bathhouse facility is required. The addition will be constructed
on the south side of the existing bathhouse facility, connecting to the existing bathhouse. The addition will be
located on a portion of a previously compacted asphalt- coated parking lot. Existing water and sewer systems will
be utilized for the new facility. Roof water will be segregated and rerouted to an existing pump -line at the portal
leading to the Area 1 Pit. This water is eventually utilized for underground dust control and at the wash - plant.
Existing surface drainage structures in the area of the addition will remain in place.
The perimeter for the addition will be excavated to a depth of four feet for placement of a concrete foundation. The,
center portion will be excavated to approximately two feet, evaluated for compaction and backfilled. Additional
engineered -fill material will be imported to the site, as required. (See construction design or as- builts for greater
detail). Foundation work will require construction of piers, footings, walls and a concrete slab. Building
construction will consist of an all -metal steel post- and -arch system, with sheet -metal sheathing and internal
•
insulation. The addition will add approximately 2,886 square feet to the existing bathhouse with approximate
dimensions of 31 x 98 feet:. The design and structure of the addition match the existing building.
The topsoil stockpile originally designated for reclamation of the parking lot and building area (Stockpile SF -3, as
shown on Map 29) will be used to cover the new portion of the bathhouse during reclamation as specified on page
2.05 -101.
Ambulance Bay and Medical Room Addition (MR11 -252)
In order to provide for indoor- parking of the Mine ambulance, to assure that the ambulance is operable and ready
for service under all weather conditions, and to provide a dedicated location for evaluation and treatment of
employee health issues and injuries, TC proposes to construct an addition to the existing Mine Office/Bathhouse
Building. The proposed addition will be a two -story addition that will tie -in with the existing building, and will
include a 34 x 32.5 foot Ambulance Bay and Medical Room, and a 34 x 32.5 Crew Briefing Room on the first
level, and a 34 x 48 foot office space on the second level. The location of the proposed Ambulance/Medical Room
Addition is shown on Map 24, Surface Facilities and Freshwater Systems, with specifications and configuration
details provided by drawings in Exhibit 49B Bathhouse Expansion Design Drawings.
Installation of the proposed Ambulance/Medical Room Addition will involve the following:
➢ Removal of existing asphalt pavement from footprint of building addition
➢ Foundation preparation (limited excavation, placement of suitable fill material, and compaction)
➢ Installation of helical screw pilings to support the floor slab
➢ Installation of drain -lines for the floor drain in the Ambulance Bay and a sanitary drain in the Medical
• Room, and connection to the existing wastewater system(sub- grade)
➢ Construction of a 6 -inch thick poured concrete floor slab (approximately 2,400 sf) with in -floor heating
➢ Installation of the pre- fabricated modular steel building addition, tying into the existing building
➢ Completion of required plumbing, electrical, and interior finish work for the addition
MR11 -252 2.05 -17.2 02/23/11
