Mr. Blair, P.E.
February 11, 2004
Page 7
water level provides adequate protection to the dam from a probable maximum
flood standpoint.
As we have discussed, a clarification to the description of the safe storage level is
that the level can be exceeded during the snowmelt season for a period not to
exceed 45 days. This will allow Climax a reasonable amount of time to pump out
the seasonal snowmelt inflow and return the water level to 10,846 feet or less.
The barge pumping system, with a capacity of approximately 2500 gpm, would be
used to control the water level in the reservoir.
We appreciate your assistance and cooperation throughout these
maintenance activities and inspection. If you have any questions, or require
additional information, please call.
Sincerely yours,
Steven M. Maly, P.E.
SMM:smm
Encl.
Cc: Mr. Jay Cupp and Tavis Rogers, Climax Mine
W. W. Wheeler and Associates, Inc.
