The miscellaneous debris costs depicted on page 5 of the Excel Worksheet are <br />reasonable, except that the revised demolition number of $0.13 / cu ft cost is preferred <br />compared to the Means number of $0.18 / cu ft. <br />Page 6 includes mainly costs associated with removal of non - hazardous debris. One large <br />item of discrepancy between CMC's and DMG's estimates is the Bulk Yard, also referred <br />to as the "North 40 Yard." A more detailed examination of the quantities involved (by <br />measuring docks, open storage areas and sheds from the 1 " =400' scale air photo of <br />Climax Mine) indicates the appropriate demolition volume for the "North 40 Yard" is <br />1.13 million cu ft as opposed to DMG's assumption of 6 million cu ft. Applying the cost <br />of $0.13 / cu ft figure to the revised volume estimate indicates DMG overstated the cost <br />of demolition by a factor of 7 +. <br />Page 7 contains the normal $0.13 / cu ft demolition costs for a variety of mine structures. <br />The PCB's listed on page 7 have all been shipped offsite for proper disposal. <br />Page 8 lists removal costs for powerlines. The revised worksheet shows adjusted Gr <br />po'werline demolition costs based on an estimate received from Craig Blincow of Peak <br />Power Engineering of Denver (personal communication, 12- 22 -95) when working on a <br />cost estimate for a similar project at Hayden Hill Mine in 1995. The cost quoted to me by <br />Blincow was $4000 per mile or $0.76 per foot. It should be noted that no salvage value is <br />included in this cost, when in reality some of the electrical gear does have salvage value. <br />Two other items are incomplete on page 8: camp rail spurs and tailing delivery lines. <br />There is no need to remove any of t h e rail spurs, because they will be covered with rock -- <br />or building_ rubble at mine closure. With respect to the tailing delivery lines, a Ca <br />$8.00 / foot was used for removal of 42 -inch RCP tailing lines, based on an estimate from <br />Frank Kern of ASI -RCC (personal communication, 11- 20 -97). <br />7 <br />
