•
•
~i
Topsoil
Prior to any surface facility related disturbances, topsoil will be
removed from the site to be disturbed as discussed in Section 4.06
and stockpiled to satisfy the needs of reclamation. The topsoil
will be removed by bulldozers as described in Section 2.05.3,
Production Methods and Eguioment
No major subsurface disturbance is planned by the Bear Coal Company
during their facility relocation. However, approximately 15-inches
of topsoil will be removed from those areas to be affected by the
surface relocation. Several areas have been previously disturbed
by past underground mining activities; therefore, no topsoil is
available from those sites. An estimated 3600 cubic yards of
topsoil was removed and stockpiled in the locations shown on the
Mine Facilities Map (Map 10). Exhibit 23 contains the Sear No. 3
Mine topsoil plan.
During August 1993 the sediment pond at the Bear No. 3 Mine was
enlarged. Approximately 0.2 acres was disturbed. The topsoil
salvaged from this area was placed on the topsoil pile shown on the
Mine Facilities Map (Map 10J. Approximately 430 cubic yards of
topsoil was salvaged which equates to an average depth of 15
inches.
Overburden
No overburden is anticipated to be moved and stored as a result of
the Bear No. 3 Portals and surface relocation. Bear Coal Company
merely plans to clean up the existing face-up area of the old
Edwards Mine. Likewise, no surface blasting will be undertaken.
Coal Handling Structures
The detailed description of the coal handling and loadout facili-
ties for the Bear Coal Company operation is found under the Mine
Facilities section in 2.05.3. The location of these facilities is
shown on the Mine Facilities Map (Map 10).
Coal Processing Waste and Non-Coal Processing Waste
This part is not applicable. The Bear Coal Company uses a dry
crushing facility for coal preparation; no coal processing waste as
defined in
2.05-24R
Revised September 17, 1993
