§2.05 APPLICATION FOR PERMIT FOR SURFACE OR UNDERGROUND MINING ACTIVITIES --
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR OPERATION AND RECLAMATION PLANS.
• 2.05.6 Mitigation of Surface Coal Mining Operation Impacts. (Cont'd.)
(1) (b) (i) (Cont'd.)
(ii) (A & B)
All surface drainage from disturbed lands is
routed through sedimentation facilities. These
facilities are monitored and maintained in
accordance with 2.05.3 (3) (C), Operations Plan,
Existing Structures, and will remain so until
the disturbed area has been restored.
The sedimentation facilities have been designed
and constructed to store a precipitation event
equal to a ten-year, 24-hour storm. A recording
precipitation gauge manufactured by Belfort
Instrument Company in Baltimore, Maryland, has
been installed at the mine site to monitor
rainfall events, and the lowermost sedimentation
dam (pond #4) is equipped with a universal
recording stream gauge to monitor discharges
over the spillway from the lowest dam on the
mine site. In this way, the design storm will
be detained a minimum of 29 hours. See the
Ponds, Impoundments, and Dams Appendix in Volume
8A.
~i
/~2-(08
/1VPRovED
~~~9 ~a y
Revised 08/01/84
Revised 10/12/86
Revised 10/01/8'7
Revised 9/21/01
112
