TR -16 Temporary Monitoring Well into the Bulldog Adit
Rio Grande Silver (RGS) drilled a temporary monitoring well into the Bulldog adit
approximately 1085 feet back from the existing portal on August 5 2011. The
temporary monitoring well is in the SW 1/4 of the NW % of Section 25, T42N, R1W,
NMPM, Mineral County, and within "Permit Area A" as specified in Exhibit A of
Permit No. M- 1977 -215. The collar location is on the intersection of the Bulldog
tunnel and the existing road to the 9700 Portal and is situated on the Black Chief
patented mining claim (MS No. 8339) owned by Donald Rounds. Permission has
been granted from Mr. Rounds to drill the temporary monitoring well.
The purpose of the monitoring well is to define the water table behind the plug
for future engineering and planning of a new portal and drift adjacent to and
north of the existing 9360 tunnel.
The well was drilled by Heersink Drilling a licensed Colorado water well drilling
company. The final depth of the well is 227 feet. The well is cased 20 feet and
grouted at the surface. The finished well is cased with 6 inch steel pipe,
perforated 10 feet up from the bottom, and set on the floor of the drift to allow
accurate water table and water quality measurements.
No new disturbance was required; however, a temporary 35' x 50' pad was
leveled on the existing road and cut -out for 7 days while the well was drilled.
Upon completion of the well, the road and cut -out were re- contoured to pre-
existing conditions.
It is proposed the monitoring well be left in place for one year and then
permanently abandoned. A "packer" (plug) will be set above the drift and the
well will be filled from bottom up with abandonite. A cement plug will cap the
hole 20 feet down from surface.
2
