Box 440
Rapid City, SD 57709 -0440
Re: St. Barbara Sand and Gravel Mine, Permit No. M- 2004-013, Amendment Approval, Revision No. AM -1
Dear Mr. Brannan:
On October 26, 2011 the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety approved the Amendment application submitted to
the Division on July 19, 2011, addressing the following:
Change the . post mining Lad use from wildlife habitat with lakes and crop land to water storage with slurry wall
covering 210 acres. The operator will submit a technical revision once the site is active and ready to construct the
Slurry wall. At that time the Division will re calculate the financial warranty needed after the QA/QC specifications
are approved by the State Engineer's office?
The terms of the Amendment No. 1 approved by the Division are hereby incorporated into Permit No. M- 2004 -013. All
other conditions and requirements of Permit No. M- 2004 -013 remain in full force and effect.
Since the operation is going to be in Temporary Cessation, the current financial warranty in the amount of $410,693.00 is
deemed adequate to cover the current affected area disturbance. Once a notice is submitted to be in active status, the
required warranty will be calculated at that time as noted above.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
CC: Barbara Coria
Office of
Mined Land Reclamation
Berhan.
