Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Director /State Engineer
The proposed operation will still consume ground water by: ® evaporation, ❑ dust control, ❑
reclamation, ❑ water removed in the mined product, ❑ processing.
COMMENTS: The permit boundary contains 94 acres previously mined under the Home Office Pit, M- 1977 -439.
The mined area includes two groundwater lakes with surface areas of approximately 37.3 and 25.4 acres. It is
believed that all marketable materials have been removed from the site; therefore the purpose of this permit is to
reclaim the site to a developed water resource (water storage reservoirs).
The applicant intends to.construct a slurry wall or other form of liner around the two lakes to create a relatively
impermeable barrier between the alluvial ground water and the reservoirs. Any such slurry wall must be
constructed in accordance with the State Engineer's Lining Criteria and approved by the Division 1 Office.
Evaporative losses from the site are currently replaced under the Home Office Pit combined ,substitute water
supply plan, valid through December 31, 2011. If a liner is not approved prior to the expiration date of this
SWSP, a new SWSP or a renewal of the existing SWSP must be obtained.
The applicant may contact this office with any questions.
Office of the State Engineer COJf
