1-10 MITIGATION OF EFFECTS ON SOILS
AmerAlia is committed to protecting the soil resources of the project area. Methods of soil handling
will be implemented as described in Exhibit E Reclamation Plan, to minimize loss of the soil
resource of the Rock School Lease Project. These methods include.
• limiting soil disturbance to only those areas needed for the project; precautions will be taken to
minimize soil loss and redistribution;
• properly stock piling the topsoil for reuse;
• employing proper erosion control procedures during all operations of the project;
• identifying those soils to be salvaged to ensure adequate revegetation success;
• using proper equipment to salvage soils;
• salvaging the proper amount of each soil;
• proper redistribution of soils onto recontoured lands after operations; and
• rapid seed application and revegetation to ensure long-term erosion control.
By employing the above soil conservation measures, AmerAlia will keep the adverse effects on
soils to a minimum.
1-11 REFERENCES
U.S. Bureau of Land Management.
