EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN
This project Reclamation Plan is submitted as part of the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology (DMG), Regular (112) Operation Reclamation Permit Application Exhibit E. Appropriate
reclamation drawings are provided in Exhibit F.
E-1 INTRODUCTION
AmerAlia is committed to reclaiming all lands disturbed as a result of the activities described in the
mine plan for the Rock School Sodium Lease Experimental Project (project). The project is an
experimental pilot plant subject to termination or to refinement and process expansion, if
commercially feasible. Therefore, this Reclamation Plan (Plan) will be implemented if the project is
terminated at the end of the initial pilot plant phase. If the project is refined and expanded, an
amendment to the reclamation permit will be submitted to the DMG.
The Rock School Sodium Lease consists of public lands administered by the U.S. Bureau of Land
Management (BLM). The current land use has primary emphasis on livestock range and wildlife
habitat with secondary emphasis on recreation and mineral development. AmerAlia will be required
to reclaim the disturbed lands in accordance with the BLM's goal to return the disturbed lands back
to these current land uses.
Reclamation is composed of several related activities with the end goals of, 1) reducing both short-
term and long-term impacts to surface land use, and 2) achieving full bond recovery. These
activities in the order in which they will be implemented for the project are:
• design each facility component to serve its intended function in the overall process of sodium
bicarbonate recovery so as to minimize adverse impacts and the amount of disturbed surface
area;
• survey and prominently mark the outer limits of the disturbed areas needed for each facility
component;
• install erosion control measures where necessary before any surface disturbance takes place;
• remove and properly handle vegetation;
• salvage, stockpile, sign, and protect topsoil — generally segregated according to soil mapping
unit and place of salvage;
• stockpile topsoil up-gradient/slope whenever possible;
G:\LMV%A78545.002\Reclamation\ReGamexh.DOC E-1
