0 0
The ponds will be constructed with a double impervious plastic liner and an
intermediate leakage collection/detection system consisting of a 60 mil HDPE bottom
liner or equal covered with a hypernet drain blanket and a 60 mil HDPE top liner or
equal. Any fluids collected by the drain blanket will be collected in a small sump or
holding tank for recycle and monitoring.
F. Utilities
Utilities and associated systems that will be required for operation of the pilot plant
will include those for raw water supply; plant water treatment; potable water; cooling
water; fire protection; steam; instrument and utility air; natural gas; liquid fuels; CO2
storage; and electricity. These are described in Section D-6 Utilities.
D-4 PROJECT COMPONENTS
The project's plot plan is shown on Figure C-1. This plan shows the major and ancillary
components and structures of the project. In addition, there are off-lease area sources of natural
gas and power (electricity), and rail loading facilities in Rifle. These project components are
described below.
D-4.1 LEASE AREA PROJECT COMPONENTS
As discussed in Section D-3.3, the phase one experimental pilot plan will have up to six
production wells. The production wells will be located in the area shown on Figure C-1 and
on pads as shown on Figure C-7. Each well will have an aboveground well head and
associated sodium bicarbonate solution mining injection piping and nahcolite saturated
solution (pregnant soda liquor) return piping. This above-ground piping will connect to the
process building and the production wells.
The process building components are shown in Figures D-4.1 and D-4.2. The process
systems described in Section D-3.6 will take place in this building. The building and
associated equipment will be designed in accordance with applicable codes and standards,
in particular the following:
• Air Moving and Conditioning Association (AMCA)
• American Concrete Institute (ACI)
• American Institute of Steel Construction, Inc. (AISC)
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
G:\LM=78545.002\Reclamation\Reclamexh.DOC D-34
