The location of the BLM inactive waterlines, core hole RS-96-20-1 and the reclaimed airstrip
are shown on Figure C-3. Other nearby structures are also shown on this figure and include
the following:
• buried communication cable;
• inactive USGS surface water gauging stations, 09306244, 09306246 and 09306230
along Corral Gulch and Yellow Creek;
• alluvial wells S24, 84 Mesa Well (and old ranch site) and DOW 83-8Y; and
• other wells GS-M3, TH75-7A, TH75-713 and Dunn (WRC) 20-1.
The status of the wells are as follows:
• 84 Mesa Well: pump set in well; depth to water approximately 15 feet.
• GS-M3: hole completed to approximately 1,650 feet to monitor upper and lower
aquifers (A-Groove and B-Groove); the well has been cemented-in.
• Dunn (WRC) 20-1: hole originally completed to approximately 2,413 feet; hole filled
with viscous mud.
• TH75-7A: total depth of hole 1,080 feet; upper aquifer(A-Groove) monitor well;
water level approximately 128 feet.
• TH75-7B: total depth of hole 1,498 feet; lower aquifer (B-Groove) monitor well;
water level at approximately 152 feet.
• RS-96-20-1: total depth of hole 2,605 feet; geotechnical corehole; future monitoring
well.
Additional information was not available on the shallow alluvial wells S24 and DOW 83-84.
D-1.4 GEOGRAPHICAL AND PHYSICAL FEATURES, AND HAZARDS
The Uinta Formation is the dominant surface geological unit cropping out within, and in
proximity of the Lease. In the vicinity of the Lease, four tongues of the Uinta Formation and
four interstratified tongues of the Green River Formation have been mapped along with the
surface alluvium (Duncan, 1976a and b). Duncan's Tu5 unit underlays the majority of the
Lease. The unit is dominated by buff-weathering silty marlstone and brown-weathering,
ledgeforming sandstone. Small outcrops of channel-form, cross-stratified, medium to fine
grained sandstone can be found in some of the shallow valleys on the Lease.
