DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone: (303) 866 -3567
FAX: (303) 832 -8106
July 7, 1999
Mr. Roger Day
AmerAlia, Inc.
P.O. Box 1330
Rifle, CO 81650
RE: Reclamation Costs, Rock School Lease Experimental Nahcolite Mine Project,
File No. M -99 -051
Dear Mr. Day:
Please find enclosed the preliminary reclamation cost estimate for the Rock School Lease Project. The cost
estimate is the basis for the amount of bond that will be required for permit issuance. Certain components
of the estimate will be updated once AmerAlia provides responses to the adequacy issues listed in the
Division's letter dated June 18, 1999. For example, costs will be included for the disposal of pond liners
and residues based on AmerAlia's responses. Costs for tree planting will also be included as appropriate.
One of the most significant reclamation costs included in the estimate is for demolition of surface structures.
Unit costs for building demolition are based on building volume, and the Division's estimate is based on
assumed heights for the buildings. If AmerAlia provides the actual heights proposed for each building, the
cost estimate may be refined.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Allen C.
