(Encana) 112c Mining Permit application for the West Fork Pit
(Permit No. M- 2205 -069). The West Fork Pit is located in portions of Lot 4 and the S1 /2, W1 /2
and NW 1/4 of Section 3, Township 5 South, Range 96 West, 6 P.M. and in the road corridor in
Lot 4 with an Avenue width of 130 feet in Section 34, Township 4 South, Range 96 West, 6th
P.M.
2.0 CONSTRUCTION SUMMARY
The following summary is the 2010 /2011 annual summary report of the West Fork Pit. In 2010
and 2011, Encana removed approximately 4 tons of material from the West Fork Pit. There was
no expansion of the pit and no changes occurred to the project map that was initially approved
with the permit.
During initial construction of the West Fork Pit in 2006, Encana's contractor disturbed
approximately 4.0 acres of the previously approved 18.4 acres. The topsoil was bladed to a
depth of three to six inches across the 4 -acre area and segregated along the east, south and
western sides of the pit to create a stormwater containment pit. Excess material not removed
from the pit during the 2008/2009 activities was then leveled out across the pit. The pit floor is
sloping to the south at approximately 3 to 4 %. The walls of the pit are approximately 2v:lh.
The quarry pit has been excavated approximately 10 feet deep.
3.0 EROSION CONTROL
Encana's contractor constructed a soil berm around the outside perimeter of pit during the topsoil
grading activities when the pit was first constructed. The topsoil stock pile was located adjacent
to a perimeter soil berm constructed for secondary containment for potential storm water runoff.
No additional temporary or permanent erosion measures are currently necessary at the site.
4.0 RECLAMATION
The topsoil pile was reseeded with the Encana North Parachute Ranch Upper Elevation seed
mix, which includes the following seed mixture.
