October 5, 2011
Kent Gorham
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
(303) 866 -3567
RE: Blue Mountain Energy, Inc.
Application and exploration plan for federal coal license.
Dear Mr. Gorham,
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to provide comments on possible adverse
impacts to State and federally listed threatened or endangered wildlife species, regarding
Blue Mountain Energy's (BME) application and exploration plans for coal deposits in
parts of Rio Blanco and Moffat County. I have reviewed the submitted plan, visited the
proposed sites, and compared this with Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) wildlife
species distribution and habitat mapping information. Currently, there is only one
federally listed wildlife species occupying the immediate or adjacent areas to be drilled
and that is the Black footed Ferret. Because of the experimental nature of the introduced
ferret population and the limited disturbance of the proposed activity, I have concluded
there should be no adverse impacts to any federally listed Wildlife Species resulting from
the work proposed.
CPAW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for this proposal and if you have
— - -any further questions, please feel - free -to contact me. - --
Sincerely,
COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE
1313 Sherman Street, Room 618 • Denver, Colorado 80203
Phone (303) 866 -3437 • FAX (303) 866 -3206
wildlife.state.co.us • parks.state.co.us
T Wygant
CPW District Wildlife Manager, Rangely
(970) 675 -5749
STATE OF COLORADO
John W.
