Frank explained to me
that he had a positive Preble's Meadow Jumping Mouse (Zapus hudsonius preblei) (PMJM)
trapping earlier this week approximately 1 1 /2 miles upstream from the Schwartzwalder Mine site
along Ralston Creek. Frank explained that during his 400 trap -night study, he had one positive
trapping of a PMJM along Ralston Creek just upstream of the mine site. Frank has already
called Pete Plage with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to describe the positive trapping of
PMJM.
This positive trapping will not change or alter our direction or protocol for our proposed phased
work at the Schwartzwalder Mine. However, Frank Kunze suggested that a habitat corridor be
maintained along the creek as much as possible to allow PMJM to travel along Ralston Creek
as needed.
Schwartrwaider Mine — PMJM Update
August 18, 2011
/ - 1y77 - 300
Page 1
