1500 or equivalent air -water combination rotary drill mounted on a tandem axle truck, drill -pipe <br />trailer or truck, auxiliary air compressors and tools, a water truck and a supporting pickup truck. <br />8.2 Safety and Protection of Environment <br />Blue Mountain Energy considers personnel safety and environmental protection paramount. All <br />personnel will receive safety hazard training. Personnel will be instructed to prevent accidental <br />fires and portable fire extinguishers will be available in all drill rigs and support vehicles. <br />Blow -out preventers should not be necessary because of the shallow hole depth and since no <br />significant gas occurrences have historically been encountered during previous drilling <br />programs in the area. Hazards to public health and safety are essentially non - existent due to <br />the nature of the equipment and the remote location. <br />The chosen access routes coupled with proposed reclamation will minimize soil erosion. <br />Archeological resources will be avoided. Necessary adjustments in access routes and drilling <br />locations by the BLM to avoid cultural resources are acceptable to BME. During the time <br />proposed for drilling, there will be little or no surface water in the area. Mud pits will be dug at <br />each location to receive water that may be produced from each hole. The drill hole plugging <br />procedure will prevent pollution of any ground water intercepted. Damage to air quality, wildlife <br />and wildlife habitat are unlikely due to the proposed limited access and short term nature of the <br />exploration program. Conflicts to critical wildlife uses will be limited by BME's proposed drilling <br />schedule, placement of drill locations and access, and prompt reclamation of disturbed areas. <br />8.3 Drilling Procedures <br />The drill hole locations will be prepared by removing vegetation and topsoil from the drilling site. <br />Mud pits to contain drilling fluids will be constructed adjacent to the drill pad. Holes will likely be <br />drilled with 5 5/8 inch to 6 5/8 inch diameter bits using air with water and foam injection as <br />dictated by hole conditions. Drilling depths are projected to range from about 300 feet to about <br />680 feet. The estimated depths for each hole are shown in Table 7 -1. Detailed down hole <br />geophysical logs will be obtained at each hole. Rock cuttings may be collected and described <br />or coring conducted at some of the holes. Blue Mountain Energy, Inc. will designate a <br />representative that will be assigned to the drilling unit and will be on site during field operations. <br />10 <br />
