represented in the leased acreage previously described. These lands occur within the Prairie
Dog Tract as delineated in the U. S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Prairie Dog Tract
Profile (August, 1982).
This Exploration License Application area lies immediately to the northwest of the current
Deserado Mine LMU (Figure 1 -1). Because the Deserado Mine longwall panels are also
oriented towards the northwest, the proposed exploration will identify any remaining potential to
lengthen longwall panels to maximize coal recovery along the margins of the B -Seam reserve.
The B -Seam coal does not outcrop within the Coal Exploration License Application Area. A
legal description of the exploration license application area is presented as Table 1 -1. The area
for coal exploration requested contains approximately 1,375 acres.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED EXPLORATION LICENSE AREA
T3N, R101 W, 6th P.M.
Sec. 17:
Sec. 18:
Sec. 19:
T3N, R102 W, 6 P.M.
Sec. 24:
Sec. 25:
1.2 Surface and Mineral Ownership
TABLE 1 -1
S' /2 of S W'/ ;
SE' /, E1/2 of SW'/;
NE'/, E' /2 of NMI, SW'/ of NW'/, SW'/, NW'/ of SE'/.
S E'/ , S% of N E'/ , E1/2 of S W'/ , S EY4 of N W'/ ;
NE'/, E% of NW/.
In accordance with rule 3482.1(a)(3)(ix) the surface and subsurface owners of record within the
Exploration License Application Area are described below:
All of the surface lands within the Exploration License Application Area are owned by the federal
government and administered by the BLM.
