Samples will be collected from equal intervals based on the total estimated depth of <br />the stockpiled material. It is estimated that between 20 and 40 samples will be obtained from <br />each stockpile and be sent to the laboratory for chemical and physical analysis. The analytical <br />results will be statistically reviewed for mean, median, and average deviation. In addition, half <br />of the boring locations holes will be excavated with a backhoe or track hoe to the maximum <br />depth of the reach (not to exceed 20 feet). The excavated material will be visually observed for <br />coarse fragments and other visual indicators of rooting media suitability. In addition the surface <br />of the stockpiles will be visually reviewed for the presence of coarse fragments and other <br />features that may impair reclamation success. <br />Sample locations can be seen on Map 2.04.9 -3. All field sampling will be conducted under the <br />direct supervision of a Certified Professional Soil Scientist or Certified Professional Agronomist <br />to ensure that a representative sample is obtained from the stockpiled material. <br />Soil Resource Analysis Protocol <br />The chemical and physical properties to be tested for are shown in Table 1. All analytical results <br />will be sent to DRMS, NRCS and OSM for their review. <br />Page 4 <br />
