OBSERVATIONS
PERMIT #: M -1999 -003
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: CBM
INSPECTION DATE: August 16, 2011
1) The Division conducted a monitoring inspection of the site on 8/16/11. The site was not active at the time of the
inspection.
2) The site is a small 110 sand and gravel operation located approximately 14 miles north of Parkdale Colorado.
The operator was contacted but was unable to attend.
3) The active mining pit is along the south side of the permit. The pit slopes appeared stable .There was a white
pickup truck parked along the north side of the active pit area. There were also various size proceed material
stockpiles noted along the west side of the active pit area. Along the East side of the main pit area, there was
what appeared to be overburden/ topsoil stockpiled. The stockpile was stable and vegetated.
4) Even though no drainage channel leading from the pit area to the access road was noted at the time of the
inspection, there is a good chance that some affected drainage can leave off site and reach Tallahassee road
drainage. The operator is encouraged to place a sediment control structure to limit drainage from the access
road from reaching Tallahassee road.
5) A permit sign and boundary markers were properly posted. The current warranty for the site in the amount of
$34,685.00 is considered adequate.
