September 23, 2011 C- 1981 - 020 /Munger Canyon Mine MPB
of the inspection. Munger Creek was dry. Ditches and culverts associated with the reclaimed waste disposal site,
cover soil stockpile site, and the topsoil stockpile locations were in good condition and well maintained. The
waste disposal area sediment pond was not retaining any water. The inlet and discharge structures were stable and
no problems were identified.
The reclaimed mine portals were inspected and were found to be stable with no cracks or other signs of erosion. It
did appear that the ground below the portal backfill area was damp. It was not readily apparent if this was due to
runoff /drainage from above the portal area or if it was seepage from the backfilled portal. It was not a significant
amount of moisture, but the portal area will continue to be monitored for signs of any seepage from the portal(s)
which could be problematic.
ROADS — Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3)
Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4)
Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6)
Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The access road was dry and in good condition. No problems were noted.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The entire length of the reclaimed portal access road was inspected. As seen in the attached photograph the
vegetation is well established. The drainage channels are well constructed and stable. No signs of significant
erosion or instability were noted at any of the mine site locations during this inspection.
SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02:
The Mine and Permit identification sign was properly displayed and maintained at the entrance to the permit area
from Highway 139.
OFFSITE SUPPORT FACILIITES - Rule 4.04,4.28:
The reclaimed Loma Loadout site was inspected. The sign with operator information, DRMS Permit Number and
MSHA ID is in good condition and clearly visible at the site. The loadout site remains stable with no erosion or
other concerns identified.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
None
OTHER (SPECIFY)
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 6
