WAIl September 30, 2011 Kent Gorham Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, Colorado 80203 RE: Northfield Partners LLC NOI X- 2005 - 226 -00 Amendment (AM -02) Dear Mr. Gorham, S CM‘ 4114 ° Sps‘i Northfield Partners, LLC (Northfield) performed coal exploration in accordance with NOI X -2005- 226-00 and AM -01 from 2005 thru 2007. Recent investor interest has led to the need for more core drilling to confirm the coal seam. Please accept this amendment (AM -02) requesting permission to drill up to thirteen (13) exploration holes in order to confirm conditions of the Ocean Wave and Brook Canon coal seams. Northfield wishes to amend the NOI to drill five (5) exploration holes within the approved permit application boundary of C- 2006 -085 and four (4) exploration holes in Sections 22 and 23 southwest of the approved permit application boundary. Four (4) additional drill sites are also proposed that are tentative dependent upon drilling results. All proposed drill sites are within property boundaries owned by Chandler Creek Companies and currently leased by Northfield. All geologic, hydrologic and vegetation aspects, as described in the NOI and AM -01, remain consistent with the proposed scope of exploration. Access to the site is through one gate in the fence on the west property boundary. Existing site trails will be used to reach the proposed drill locations unless absolutely necessary. Since the area is semi -arid, groundwater is not expected in the BC drilling vicinity and minor quantities in the NF drilling vicinity will be consistent with groundwater monitoring data. Northfield will use portable bins to contain and re- circulate drilling fluids when implementing mud - drilling methods. Each drill site will disturb less than 0.1 acres, not requiring a stormwater permit. Cultural resource information was provided as Exhibit E of C- 2006 -085 and included all the targeted sections. All drill site reclamation activities will be consistent with the approved NOI. Northfield intends to seal and abandon all the proposed drill holes with the exception of up to two (2) holes that will be converted to groundwater monitoring holes in the Brook Canon coal seam. Drill hole sealing will be consistent with the approved NOI. Commencement of proposed exploration activity would be immediately upon approval from DRMS, preferably before October 31, 2011 with all activities completed no later than March 2012, depending on winter weather conditions.
