Jill Carlson of
the Colorado Geological Survey(CGS)participated in the inspection. CGS has assisted CDRMS in the
investigation and remediation of the landslides that have occurred on site this year.
Weather conditions at the site were sunny and warm;the area has been in a fairly dry pattern the last few weeks.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,
4.05.10;Diversions 4.05.4;Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring
4.05.13;Drainage Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8;Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
Ponds 010, 012, 012A, 013, and 014 all held water. Stock Tank ST-1 was dry. The underdrains at Pond
012,through the slide area were both flowing. Standing water was observed at the toe of the Neck Pit slide area.
RE VEGETATION—Rule 4.15
Vegetative Cover; Timing:
About 100 sheep were grazing the reclamation in the vicinity of the Pond 013 slide.
SLIDES and DAMAGE-Rule 4.12:
The Pond 013 slide area was inspected. Grading of the scarp was complete but it had not been seeded.
Seeding of the scarp area needs to be done this fall. Toe drains had been excavated on the south end and through
the central area of the slide. The central area drain intersects channel YPM 4-1 to carry flow from the slide into
Pond 013. The point where the new toe drain flows into YPM 4-1 may require rip rap to ensure that the ditch does
not erode and that material from the toe is not transported downslope. Drainage YPM 4 was still blocked and
needed to be reworked to ensure that flow from the Pond 013 slide area will drain as quickly as possible to avoid
saturating the toe of the slide. When the channel is redefined it should be armored to prevent sediment transport
and channel scouring.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 7
