MEMO TO FILE
Date: Wednesday. February 21 2001 I I :5I a.m.
Specialist: Allen Sorenson Signed: d tivv
Subject/Operator /Operation/File No. Various, Henderson Mill. Climax
Molybdenum Company. Permit No. M -1977 -342
Type of Interaction: Meeting phone Other
Person(s) contacted and affiliation:
303/5459.1322 I ext. 2214
c:lwindnwslpersonatlhenderson various MTF.doc
111111111011111
Erich Bower. Environmental Coordinator, Henderson Mill
Summary and Resolution of Interaction: Discussion of the following three topics:
Henderson plans to install phase one of ground water interceptor system during construction season 2001. URS is
completing design for approximately eight interceptor wells and a series of 1 inch monitoring piezometers. A
technical revision to incorporate the interceptor wells and monitoring network will be provided.
RFP for summer 2001 topsoil salvage operations in the tailing basin will be prepared in March 2001. DMG will
inspect site this spring to review topsoil stockpile locations and determine if additional permitting is necessary.
Pistil any be pushed into temporary windrows or placed in long -term stockpiles depending on cost and logistics.
DMG is concerned that salvage operations proceed such that poorer quality subsoil is not mixed with A- horizon
material. DMG will schedule inspection to observe topsoil salvage operations.
Henderson is proceeding to finalize a plan to accept delivery of biosolids for use as a reclamation soil amendment.
Will obtain permit from Health Department and TR with DMG. Currently looking at accepting only grade A,
composted material from the producer. This material would have no restrictions on where it could be used.
Ccw y14 v:ii A(Q d e .. c
