Henderson \till.
Technical Revision TR -09, Permit No. M- 77 -3-t2
Dear Mr. Sorenson:
This letter is to provide the Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) with the results of the
2002 leak down test on the 3 -Darn seepwater lines. Although Henderson had earlier asked for
permission to delay the test until after the completion of a proposed project to relocate the 3-Darn
seepwater line discharge, we performed the test on May 22" due to concerns that the discharge
relocation project will not be completed this summer.
The test was completed in the following manner. On May 10 "' the 3 -Dam seepwater discharge
valves were closed. The pipes were allowed to fill until completely full on the morning of May
22 ". A small trash pump was utilized to speed up the filling process. Once both lines were full.
the inlet valves were closed and a pressure reading was taken from the pressure gage located at
the discharge valves. The initial pressure reading was taken on May 22" at 9 AM. Both gages
read 78 psi. Pressure readings were taken again 24 -hours later and both gages read 78 psi.
Therefore both lines have passed the annual leak down certification as required by TR -009.
Please find enclosed a certification from Mr. Michael Ley. Civil Engineer /Project Nlanage1.
regarding the results reported to the Divison for the annual 3 -Dam leak down test
Please call if you have any questions. 1 can be reached at (303) 569-3221 ext. 221.1.
Very truly yours.
Enclosure
Erich Bower
Sr. Environmental Engineer
Climax Molybdenum Company
Cc: Mike Ley — Climax
Rich Wagner — Climax
Dave Long -- Climax
HENDERSON OPERATIONS
=S3C2 4oail3
Pa -shell Colo 90468
1303156 1 3221
Fa& (3701 72 ).0(738
