Reclaim water from the tailings storage facility will also
be used as make up for the process.
Dry reagents are added at the thickener through a reagent mixer, diluted with water and added
through a chemical feed pump. As shown in Table C -4, DAF -30 is added as a flocculent (same
reagent as used in the concentrate thickener). Approximately 2.31b. of reagent are used per day.
Table C -4: Chemical Usage, Tailings Thickener, (56,000 ton/yr
Notes
(I) Reagent rate based on dry tailings feed tonnage (11% mass pull to concentrate)
(2) tons of reagents — annual quantity
(3) Liquid US tons of reagents — annual quantity
(4) Water is reclaimed at thickener and recycled
Chemical / Reagent Inventory
Lime, PAX, Pine Oil and DAF -30 are the chemicals /reagents stored within the mill. Lime, PAX
and DAF -30 are dry reagents and the Pine Oil is a liquid reagent. Table C -5, presents the
Reagent Inventory, daily consumption and monthly inventory. Only one day's operating supply
is in the reagent feeders at any one time. Secondary spill containment in the mill is controlled by
a collection sump built into the concrete floor at the lower end of the mill. The containment
sump holds approximately 1,000 gal of liquids and/or sediments. Tertiary containment is the
TSF facility.
Table C -5: Reagent Inventory, (56,000 ton /vr
Usage based on 100% solution.
Undiluted basis
M1990 -057 September 27, 2011
