11286 -4 <br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Seneca Coal Company LLC, 37796 CR 53, Hayden, <br />CO 81639, has filed with the Colorado Division of <br />Minerals and Geology, an application (RN -06) for re- <br />newal of the current Seneca II Mining Permit No. <br />C -80 -005 pursuant to the Colorado Surface Coal <br />Mining Act 34 -33 -101 et. seq. and the rules and reg- <br />ulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation <br />Board. The permit renewal shall be for a term of five <br />(5) years. <br />The active Seneca II Mine Permit (State Permit No. <br />C - 80 -005, Federal Permit No. Co -00 ).was originally <br />submitted to the Division on ecember 3 196Qun- <br />deF C 1prado's Permanent. Regulatory Prog aain°and <br />- was subsequently approved on September 23, 1981. <br />Five five -year renewals have been issued since Per- , <br />mit C -80 -005 was originally approved; the first on <br />February 17, 1987, the second on February 17, 1992 <br />the third on July 25, 1997, the fourth on February 17, <br />2002, and current permit term was approved on Feb- <br />ruary 17, 2007 and extends until February 2012. <br />In 2010, SCC reduced the size of the original Seneca <br />II permit area to accommodate the new Peabody <br />Sage Creek Mine (PSCM) permit area. The PSCM <br />permit area includes approximately 3,011.9 acres of <br />the original Seneca II permit area. The revised Sen- <br />eca <br />II permit area retains 386.5 acres of the original <br />permit area•that includes 271.0 disturbed acres. <br />The Seneca II Mine is located approximately nine (9) <br />miles southeast of Hayden, Colorado. The specific <br />area to which this bond release request applies is in- <br />cluded in portions of the following sections located <br />within the permit area: <br />T5N, R87W <br />Section 1: SE /4, Portions of , NE/4NE/4SW /4 <br />and S/2NE/4 <br />Section 12: Portions of NE/4 and E/2NW /4 <br />T5N, R86W <br />Section 6: W /2W /2SW /4 <br />Section 7: W /2NW /4NW /4 N /2SW /4NW /4 <br />All located west of the 6th Principal Meridian; totaling <br />386.5 acres. <br />The surface area is owned by the State of Colorado <br />The USGS 7.5 Minute Quadrangle Maps for Milner <br />and Mt.
