September 15, 2011 C- 1981 - 028 /Keenesburg Strip Mine RDZ <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br />Areas 23, 29, and 30, had been mowed to address the presence of cheat grass. Don MacDonald indicated that this <br />mowing took place in the previous month or so and that the area will be chemically treated for cheat grass per the <br />recommendations of Dr. George Beck of Colorado State University. Don also indicated that other areas around <br />the site had also been treated. This activity is in compliance with the permit. Area 25 was observed, and it <br />appeared that past cheat grass control efforts were working to eradicate this undesirable species. <br />No compliance issues were identified with the reclamation. <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br />Observations during the inspection indicated that the facilities, including the shop and yard, are in good condition. <br />SIGNS AND MARKERS — Rule 4.02: <br />The entrance sign was in good shape and included the necessary inforination. <br />Boundary markers were observed near the western boundary of the site and were found to be in compliance. This <br />area is where the boundary has recently been moved to the east (per TR- 42). <br />TOPSOIL — Rule 4.06: <br />Topsand Pile A -3 (the southern side), Topsand Pile A -L and Topsand Pile B -1 were observed from roads.
