EXHIBIT D
Mining Plan
The proposed Treiber Lakes permit property owned by the City of Greeley and the Fort Collins —
Loveland Water District, North Weld County Water District, and East Larimer County Water
District. The three water districts also known collectively as the Tri- Districts. This exhibit
separates the proposed Treiber Lakes permit area from the existing permit M- 1977 -439, Home
Office Mine, operated by Lafarge West, Inc. The remainder of the Home Office Mine site is
unaffected by the Treiber Lakes permit, but access through the Home Office Mine is necessary to
enter the proposed site. Upon approval of the Treiber Lakes permit, the parcel will be released
from the Home Office Mine permit.
Introduction and Overview
The proposed Treiber Lakes permit boundary includes approximately 94.0 acres. Mining at the
site is generally complete and site reclamation is proposed as described in Exhibit E,
Reclamation Plan, and illustrated in Exhibit F, Reclamation Plan Map. The site currently
consists of the previously mined areas and additional areas disturbed and undisturbed by mining.
The existing excavated area is approximately 75 acres in size and, on average, about 15 to
25 feet deep. The mined area includes two groundwater lakes with surface areas of
approximately 37.3 acres and 25.4 acres.
Permit Boundary Definition
The proposed permit boundary generally follows the site parcel lines (see Exhibit C -1). The
Cache la Poudre River delineates the northern boundary and fence lines identify the boundaries
on the west and south sides of the site. If not on the parcel boundary, the fence lines encroach on
the City of Greeley's property, so using the fence lines as a reference ensures that the proposed
permit area is on the applicant's property. Along the eastern edge of the property, the proposed
permit boundary is offset from the parcel line, adding an additional 50 feet to the proposed
permit area (see Exhibit C -1). The City of Greeley also owns the parcel containing this
additional 50 feet. Additionally, the permit boundary deviates from the parcel line in the
southeast corner of the property to exclude operations associated with the Lafarge material
transport conveyor. Markers will be placed along the eastern permit boundary to delineate the
Treiber Lakes site from the existing Home Office Mine.
Affected Land Boundary Definition
The affected land boundary essentially follows the permit boundary, although mining has not
extended right to the edge of the property. Between the edge of the mining area and the permit
boundary, much of the land will likely be disturbed by access roads, slurry wall installation,
stockpiles, or other reclamation related activities.
Treiber Lakes
DRMS 112 Permit Application Page 4
