COMMENTS
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
All records were checked at the Peabody Sage Creek Mine offices. All required records were on site and up to
date at the time of the inspection. The DRMS Availability of Records is attached to this inspection report.
EXPLOSIVES — Rule 4.08
Distance Prohibitions 4.08.4; Warnings 4.08.4; Control of Adverse Effects 4.08.4:
Blasting drills were on site and active at the time of the inspection. The Peabody Sage Creek Mine is approved to
conduct blasting activities for both portal excavation and other construction and operational activities. Evidence
of blasting of the portal area was observed with drilling activities being conducted to blast the interface of the
slope above the portal for future stability issues.
Blasting signs were in place on all major access roads leading to the blasting area and all mine entrances during
active blasting operations.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05

Pond 004 was holding water and discharging at the time of the inspection. The pond embankment was stable with
good vegetation established and no evidence of erosion or damage. The primary spillway was functioning as
designed and the emergency spillway was stable with no problems noted. Discharge was clear and measured at
.10 cfs at the flume. No problems were noted.
Pond 002 (Wadge Impoundment) was holding water and discharging at the time of the inspection. Pumping
activities were on -going for use in construction. The pond was stable with no problems noted. The discharge was
clear. The amount of discharge was not identified through the flume. However, the recording station was
observed and functioning as required.
