September 12, 2011 C -1982- 056 /Foidel Creek Mine JDM
6NM Sediment Pond Embankment Erosion
All spillways were functioning as designed with no problems noted.
Ditches and culverts throughout the mine site were functioning as designed. No problems were noted with the
exception of the following:
- The sump located south of the railroad tracks and south of Pond B has neared capacity in terms of sediment.
This sump should be cleaned when dryer conditions dictate to ensure adequate freeboard is maintained.
-The culvert at the intersection of the explosives area access road was damaged at the inlet.
-The culvert located to the north of the ROM stockpile and behind the vent fan is 3 /4 full of sediment at the inlet.
-The disturbance associated with the stability work located approximately halfway between the collection ditch on
the east side of the railway between the batch weigh loadout and the 24" culvert under the railway next to the
conveyor has generated erosional gullies and runoff into the collection ditch. This area needs to be repaired with
proper sediment control in place in the collection ditch and at the culvert.
-The material stockpile generated from the stability repair work will require the placement of sediment control
structures around the stockpile.
Please address these maintenance items on or before October 1, 2011.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 8
