Location
Acres
East Pit
15.40
West Pit
9.85
Total
25.25
Valco, Inc.
March 29, 2011
Page 2
The volume calculations suggest that there is a material surplus of approximately 3,600 cubic yards. Volumes
should be considered accurate to plus or minus 10 percent due to accuracy of the base survey plan and the
volume calculation software. We have not attempted to determine the suitability of the onsite material. It may
be that portions of the soil are unsuitable for recompaction in final reclaimed slopes. Access to much of this
material will require dewatering or dredging of the pits.
Based on the assumptions below of the water surface elevations, the estimated area of exposed water is provided
below. As the water level fluctuates seasonally, the surface area will decrease when levels are lower and
increase when levels are higher.
Assumptions:
Exposed Water Surface Areas
1. Material shrink and/or swell corrections have not been applied. Existing material density was
considered to be the approximate reclaimed density. Note that during earthmoving and grading work,
some material loss should be expected.
2. Water levels are 5,232 ft in the west pit and 5,225 ft in the east pit.
3. Surface elevations outside the pits will be regraded to original ground surface. We have estimated these
elevations from the surrounding ground outside the disturbed limits.
4. The marsh area has a depth of 18 inches and will be filled to 18 inches above the existing water line (3 ft
of total fill).
5. Slopes will be no steeper than 3:1 from 5 feet above the water level. The volume estimates assume a
3:1 inclination from the crest of slope. In some areas this distance may be greater than 5 feet.
Sincerely yours,
LYMAN HENN, a division of Brierley _"; es, LLC
Mr. Nathan C.
