SOIL LOSS COMPARISON - ROADSIDE MINE
RECLAIMED VERSUS BASELINE (ADJACENT) CONDITIONS
The following calculations are presented to determine if untreated drainage from the reclaimed Roadside
Refuse Disposal Area and Roadside Refuse Disposal Borrow Area are contributing suspended solids to
streamflow or runoff outside the permit area in excess of premining levels. Ponds 8 and Pond 9 collect run
off from the Refuse Disposal Area and Roadside Refuse Disposal Borrow Area. The majority of the
drainage area for Pond 8 has been released from the permit.
The baseline data for comparison are considered to be those conditions that exist in the adjacent area. The
adjacent area in this case is the Shadscale reference area. The vegetation on the reclaimed and adjacent
areas are presented in detail in Cedar Creek Associates 2010 Revegetation Evaluation and are summarized
below.
