As you have requested, I have
re- stated below each adequacy question, and then provided a substantive response.
Adequacy Issue No. A. Attachment D -5, Dry Stacked Tailings Work Plan, Rule
6.4.21(8)
Adequacy Issue #17 from Technical Memorandum of 3 May 2011. Dry stack tailings
The Applicant states: Dry stack tailings typically produce a stable deposit requiring no
retention binding.
1) The Applicant will need to provide references /examples of sites where
this has been successfully employed. The Division will need to inspect
the proposed location underground where the dry stacked tailings will be
deposited before sign off.
2) In addition to the items listed under Environmental Engineering
Summary, the Applicant must identify and map any locations in the
disposal area that are seeping water into the drift. This mapping should
be done during the late spring or early summer, when the chance of
seepage is greatest as is the ability to identify and map them. The
Applicant must commit to consolidation grouting of fractures or other
weaknesses in the drift that produce ground water seepage if the seepage
has the potential to come into contact with the disposed tailings.
DEN 97, 591, 783v2 9 -9 -11
GREENBERG TRAURIG, LLP a ATTORNEYS AT LAW o WWW.GTLAW.COM
The Tabor Center © 1200 17th Street n Suite 2400 u Denver, CO 80202 o Tel 303.572.6500 o Fax 303.572.6540
ALBANY
AMSTERDAM
ATLANTA
AUSTIN
BOSTON
CHICAGO
DALLAS
DELAWARE
DENVER
FORT LAUDERDALE
HOUSTON
LAS VEGAS
LONDON'
LOS ANGELES
MIAMI
MILAN"
NEW JERSEY
NEW YORK
ORANGE COUNTY
ORLANDO
PALM BEACH COUNTY
PHILADELPHIA
PHOENIX
ROME "'
SACRAMENTO
SAN FRANCISCO
SHANGHAI
SILICON VALLEY
TALLAHASSEE
TAMPA
TYSONS CORNER
WASHINGTON, D.C.
WHITE PLAINS
ZURICH`"
* OPERATES AS GREENBERG
TRAURIG MAHER LLP
* * STRATEGIC ALLIANCE
