Oak brush and arrow leaf balsam root (aka mule's ear) is coming in nicely,
along with yarrow and other native vegetation in addition to the reclamation seed mix. An Oakbrush
mowing project by BLM ( "Quakie Project ") actually mowed over site D. Because of the good natural
vegetation and the mowing, I am confident that the project is on track to be barely unrecognizable by next
year. Therefore I think the bond for K1 can be returned this year.
Description
Site A. Looks good. Vegetation remaining in soil (oak, arrow leaf balsam root, yarrow, etc) is coming in
very nicely. I think it is apparent that cattle stayed out of this area which helped prevent weeds, which were
sparse.
Site D. Also looks good. The site was also mowed over by a BLM oak thinning project. It was difficult to
find the site.
Action Items
Recommend to DRMS that bond be released with their concurrence.
Attachments
None
1 of 3
ames Blair
James Blair — DPLO Geologist
970 - 882 -6862
james_blair @blm.gov
