This concluded the inspection.
PERMIT #: M -1994 -121
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC
INSPECTION DATE: August 12, 2011
overburden material was placed approximately 500 from the top of the catchment area, which drains the east
side of the ridge where the Vasquez Quarry No. 2 is located. The fill material is approximately 250 feet in
length and 15 feet in height (at the center). There are no houses or permanent man -made structures located
above the overburden fill which may be impacted by the impoundment of stormwater. Further, there was
little physical evidence to suggest that stormwater is being impounded behind the overburden fill. Stormwater
is likely impounded behind the overburden fill for a short period of time until it can percolate through the
sandstone rubble. Based on the observations made during the inspection, the Division believes this operation
is currently in compliance with Rule 3.1.6 which requires disturbances to the prevailing hydrologic balance of
the affected land and of the surrounding area be minimized. As noted in this report, the Operator will be
responsible for updating the Mining and Reclamation Plans to address how the overburden will be handled
and the associated disturbance reclaimed.
