* *Broadcast rate is doubled what would normally be used and is shown as such. Forage Kochia
will only be applied through broadcast seeding therefore, its application rate is double that shown
above.
Site Variation Adaptability of Seed Mix #8
Dry Sites: All species.
Moist Sites: Agropyron hybrid, Medicago.
Cool Season: Agropyron, Elymus.
Warm Season: Medicago.
Fine Textured Sites: Agropyron hybrid, Elyrnus, Medicago.
Coarse Textured Sites: All species.
Revegetation methods, including seedbed preparation and seeding, are similar to that presented
earlier in the revegetation plan. Exceptions include the possible use of the grass drill specified in
the irrigated pasture revegetation discussion in lieu of the rangeland type drill and the use of
cover crop for surface stabilization only on steeper slopes. No mulching is planned for these
areas, however, a cover crop may be seeded as a surface stabilization measure. Management and
maintenance activities will include any necessary repair of rills or gullies, reseeding, or grazing
management. Grazing management will be centered on the proper use by livestock of the
Dryland Pasture areas in relation to the associated Irrigated Pasture. Depending on the results of
the initial soils' analysis, Dryland Pasture will only receive an initial fertilizer application at the
time of seeding.
WFC anticipates that volunteer willows and other hydrophytic species to grow in low lying
swales, drainage channels adjacent to sediment ponds and in the wetland mitigation sites shown
on Map 2.05.5 -1, Postmining Land Use Map. Shrubs will also invade into the reclaimed areas
associated with the Dryland Pasture areas over time, which is a normal plant successional pattern
for improved pastureland in western slope of Colorado.
Map 2.05.5 -1, Postmining Land Use Map shows the areas of the reclaimed Irrigated Pasture and
Dryland Pasture land use /vegetation types that will be reestablished through the reclamation
Section 2.05.4(2)(e) Page 13 April 2011
