DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
FLATIRON CONSTRUCTORS, INC
JUSTIN DUMOND, P.E.
10188 E 1 -25 FRONTAGE ROAD
FIRESTONE, CO 80504
RE: COMPACTED CLAY LINER APPROVAL
CAMENISH RESERVOIR, WDID 0504049
CAMENISH BORROW PIT, DRMS M- 2006 -078, WDID 0503009
NWNE S15- T2N -R68W, WATER DIVISION 1, WATER DISTRICT 5
Dear Justin:
The purpose of this letter is to approve the lining of the Camenish Reservoir. The
Reservoir is located in the NWY4 of the NE %, of Section 15, Township .2 North, Range 68
West of the Sixth Principal Meridian and was constructed by the Camenish .Borrow Pit
operations under DRMS Permit No. M -2006 -078. The compacted clay liner test
commenced November 10, 2009 and officially concluded on August 19, 2010. Additional
monitoring was performed up to July 27, 2011. A site inspection was performed by our
office on August 3, 2011 to review site conditions and the raw leak test data.
Your report dated August 5, 2011 and subsequent revision dated August 16, 2011 provides
the liner summary and leak test result. The test data provided indicates that the pit has
been lined to the design standard referenced in the August 1999 State Engineer
Guidelines for Lining Criteria for Gravel Pits (1999 SEO Guidelines). Meeting the design
standard requires that all water inflows and outflows for the liner perimeter enclosed
area must be accounted for on a monthly basis.
With this liner approval, Camenish Reservoir may be used to store water in accordance
with the 1999 SEO Guidelines. Prior to ANY use of this site, the owner or operator will
need to coordinate with the District 5 Water Commissioner (Shera Sumerford,
shera.sumerfordcc7r,state.co.us) to review operations and accounting.
Please contact-.me at the number below if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jonathan M.
