Peabody REucryEO
Dear Mr. Musick:
Twentymile Coal
Mr. Jason Musick, Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
(303) 866 -3567 X 8134
AUG So 7
Division of Reclamation,
Mining and safe>x/
29515 Routt County Road 27
Oak Creek, CO 80467
970.879.3800
August 15, 2011
RE: Twentymile Coal Company - Foidel Creek Mine (Permit No. C -82 -056), Minor Revision
(MR11 -255) — Facilities Storage Yard Rock -Dust Tank
&( 1!' '
Twentymile Coal, LLC (TC) requests CDRMS approval of a Minor Revision to our existing approved
Permit for installation, operation, and reclamation of an additional rock -dust tank in the Facilities
Storage Yard, adjacent to our Office /Bathhouse Facilities. The additional rock -dust tank will be
utilized to fill bulk dust bags, to be transported underground, by mobile equipment to facilitate rock -
dusting of our active mine workings. The rock -dust tank to be used is an existing tank that has been
transferred for re -use from our Moffat County Mining, LLC - Williams Fork Mine.
The proposed rock -dust tank installation is within the existing Facilities Storage Yard disturbance area,
and will involve no new or incremental disturbance. The Facilities Storage Yard Rock -Dust Tank
Installation will consist of the re -used rock -dust tank, which will be mounted on four poured concrete
piers; required electrical and control equipment, that will tie -in to existing distribution lines; and a dust
collection system. The additional rock -dust tank installation can be readily accessed from either the
adjacent Shop Access Road or the open Facilities Storage Yard area.
Drainage for the proposed Facilities Storage Yard Rock -Dust Tank and the existing Facilities Storage
Yard area is controlled by existing collection ditches which drain to Pond F, and the proposed
installation will not modify the drainage configuration or requirements. The Facilities Storage Yard
Rock -Dust Tank will remain in -place until it is no longer needed to support ongoing or anticipated
future mining operations. Reclamation of this installation will probably occur as part of the overall
reclamation of the Mine Facilities area, with equipment removal, foundation demolition, backfilling
and grading, soil material replacement, and reseeding. Bond monies are already in place for all
reclamation components except removal of the rock -dust tank and demolition of the foundation piers.
This submittal includes revised PAP text, exhibits; and maps, addressing the location, configuration,
operation, maintenance, and reclamation of the proposed additional rock -dust tank. New and revised
PAP materials are identified by the attached Summary of Revisions /Additions.
