The access road shown on Map C -2 is the only access road proposed for the mining
operation. This road is completely on United Companies property and is located within
the permit area. This road connects directly to HWY 141.
2. The topsoil to be stored within Mining Area 1 will come from undisturbed areas within
Mining Areas 1,2 and 3. All other topsoil will be directly placed in areas ready for
reclamation. The amount of land that is currently undisturbed within Mining Areas 1, 2
and 3 is 30 acres. This is less than the total acreage since previous, operators did not
salvage topsoil. The approximate volume of topsoil is 30 acres x 0 -5 inches of topsoil
(2.5 inch expected average) = 10,000 CY.
3. The water that is going to be used on site will be transported by a 6" hdpe pipe. This pipe
will lay on the ground surface. The pipe will cross HWY 141 through a 12" culvert that
will be installed as part of the access road connection with HWY 141. There will be a
pump at the McCurter's Lake 2b. The pipe will follow the southern side of the access
road to reach the facilities area.
4. The waste fines stockpile is shown on Map C -2. The location is west of the wash ponds
in the facility area.
5. The depth of topsoil placed on the islands will be approximately 3 -6 inches and will be
place over 3 -6 inches of waste fines. This will give a total of 6 -12 inches of plant growth
medium. The site have very limited topsoil quality and quantity. All topsoil encountered
will be salvaged during mining and will be replaced at the above estimated thicknesses.
