August 17, 2011
RECLAMATION SUCCESS (cont.): the upper bench of the Mine No. 5A portals. There were also scattered
hound's tongue plants that will need to be sprayed. Finally, the north berm portion of the reclaimed Mine No. 9
refuse pile has a lot of thistle plants on it (mainly Scotch Thistle) that will need to be sprayed.
- There are several areas that have been sprayed that are doing very well. These areas include the knapweed
infestation behind the No.9 Mine refuse pile and the No. 5 Mine portal dewatering ponds (5P -5, 5P -6 and 5P -7).
There are still scattered knapweed plants that will need to be spot sprayed but the majority of the plants have been
killed.
- There was a small patch of yellow toadflax on the east side of the mine. The area was west of the road that
runs behind the No. 9 Mine refuse pile. This must be sprayed ASAP to keep it from spreading.
- Each year the operator contracts with a local rancher to hay the fields around the Williams Form Mine property.
The rancher has hayed these areas and the bales are lying in the fields. There were large swathes of land that were
not hayed on the east side of the mine due to the prevalence of the ground squirrel holes.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED: None
This completes the 17 August 2011 inspection report for the Williams Form Mines.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
C- 1981- 044/Williams Fork Mines IRS
