Brian Watterson of Moffat County Mining accompanied
us on the. inspection. The mine is currently not operating. The operator is conducting monitoring and reclamation
operations at the site. The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was dry.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS — Rule 5.02.4(1):
- All of the records were brought to the mine in binders by Brian Watterson of Moffat County Mining. The
records are kept at the Foidel Creek Mine in Oak Creek, CO. Please see the availability of records checklist at the
end of this inspection for more details.
BACKFILL and GRADING — Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour
4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials
4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
- The backfilled and regraded Mine No. 4 portal area remained stable and well vegetated at the time of the
inspection. The area was well vegetated. There was no sign of slumping or settling in the backfilled area. There
is a small dozer slot that has been cut in this area for the disposal of other mine related debris. However, it appears
as though the area is being used by some of the employees to dump miscellaneous items. Moffat County Mining
needs to limit access to this portion of the site and make sure employees are not dumping non - mining related items
into the slot.
FISH and WILDLIFE — Rule 4.18:
- There was a large herd of pronghorn on the east side of the mine. They were on the area south and east of the
main haul road.
- It appears as though the ground squirrels have returned to the site after they were poisoned a few years ago.
There are numerous new burrows throughout the site.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 6
JRS
