July 6, 2011 C-1994-082/Yoast Mine SLB
either by pushing the toe of the slide out of the drainages or rerouting the drainage around the toe of the slide.
Work was underway at the Pond 012 slide area. This slide, initially occurring in 2003,has been repaired
according to the plan approved in Technical Revisions No. 38,42, and 46. The trench drain was being installed
along the northern pond inlet channel; a PVC pipe and gravel were being placed. The gravel will be covered with
fabric, and then fill will be placed over the fabric along the toe of the slide area to assist in buttressing the slope.
There were no recommendations to deviate from the approved plan at this time.
The small slump that occurred at the base of the Pond 012 drainage in the shrub reestablishment area had been
regraded, as had the slump that occurred on the southwest slope above Pond 012A.
In the south area, a long settlement crack extends in a north/south direction parallel to YPM-1-1. This is
apparently a settling crack with no major vertical or horizontal displacement; no remediation was recommended at
this time.
Settling cracks have also appeared on the north slope of the north pit area; again since there is no vertical or
horizontal displacement,no action is warranted at this time.
The Division is requiring SCC to submit a technical revision to the permit application that identifies all of the
unstable areas within the permit boundary(including a map),documents their present condition based on a
detailed survey, and details plans for ensuring long term stability. Documentation should also be included for
those areas where further action/additional disturbance is not recommended and/or planned.
In addition to the photos attached to this report, aerial coverage of all of the named features is included in the
Division's April 27,2011 and June 1, 2011 inspection reports; additional on-the-ground photographs are included
in the Division's June 6,2011 inspection report.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 4
