Flood Control Levee August 24, 1999 Page <br />Type L rlprap was designed by Ayres, Associates, Inc., and placed on the face of the levee <br />by &1 I Enterprises o Berthoud, Colorado during the period November 1997 through <br />February 1998, for the reach of levee between SCA stations 105+00 and 135 +00. See <br />Appendix 10. <br />• SCA prepared an as -built surrey of the levee in March, 1998. See Appendix 8. <br />• This analysis and report were undertaken to determine the adequacy of the freeboard, <br />describe the interior drainage, and coordinate the findings of the three other engineering <br />disciplines (erosion protection,, geotechnical and surveying). <br />• A. maintenance plan was developed for the levee and adopted by the University. See <br />Appendix 11. <br />A. ENcy REVIEW AND PERMIT TO CONSTRUCT LEVEE <br />Flatiron Sand and gavel Company submitted a request for a special permit to construct its proposed <br />levee and channel in the South Boulder Creek floodplain to Boulder County Planning Commission.' <br />The Boulder County Planning staff reviewed the proposal and recommended that the Planning <br />Commission approve the project subject to three conditions.' The City of Boulder's staff also <br />reviewed the proposal, gave its approval, and commented about the flood control benefits that the <br />levee would provide for the then - proposed T'antra development located further to the west. Boulder <br />Open Space agreed not to object to the levee, and consented to flood waters being forced onto its <br />newly acquired open space property along South Boulder Creek?
