The exit gradients calculated from the flow nets are 0.01 and 0. 02, at stations 111 +
and -goo, respectively. These gradients are much less than 1.0, which satisfies
the criteria given by the 1 MG.
According to information provided by Leonard Rice Consulting Mater Engineers,
Inc., the I 00 flood elevation at stations 111 00 and 145+00 are 5369 and 5401,
respectively. These elevations are at o below the water levels in the ditch at these
locations. Consequently, hydraulic gradients will not increase as a result of the 100-
year flood.
In summary, cal hydraulic gradients for the levee are lour, the materials at this
site are nondispersive well graded, and filter-like. I a opine piping i
f not a
foreseeable concern a the levee.
