CPW would encourage DRMS to specify any seed mix for reclamation that is primarily <br />native species of grasses forbs and shrubs. We would discourage the use of smooth <br />brome and crested wheat as they tend to out compete all other species and have little <br />values for wildlife in general. Attached is a seed mix that was developed by CPW for <br />reclamation of oil and gas facilities in the North Fork of the Gunnison and should be <br />applicable in this situation. For TR 71, we recognize that the project is located on private <br />lands and encourage DRMS and Oxbow Mining to work with the landowner to <br />implement the seed mix, but recognize that the surface owner may have other desires for <br />reclamation. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the proposed revision of the Elk Creek <br />Mine reclamation standards.
